Dalton Tiger Report - This Week In Athletics (9/3-9/7)

The Dalton Girls Varsity Volleyball team capped off a successful opening week of the Fall 2024 season by securing first place in the Gold Bracket at the season-opening Invitational Tournament, a first for the program.
The team clinched the title by defeating Columbia Prep 2-0. Dalton secured their spot in the bracket after taking both of their pool play matchups on Friday evening. In the first round of the bracket, Dalton faced a tough challenge from Chapin, ultimately pulling off a thrilling 2-1 victory. Down 22-20 in the third set, Dalton rallied to win five of the next six points, sealing the match. In the championship game, Dalton dominated Columbia Prep, sweeping both sets to claim the tournament victory.

Other highlights from the week included strong performances from the Dalton Boys and Girls Soccer teams. The Boys team opened their season with a commanding 4-0 win over Portledge before battling to a 2-2 draw against Poly Prep, a match that featured a crucial goal scored while down a player in the second half. The Girls Soccer team also delivered an exciting win against Poly Prep, coming from behind twice to tie the game before scoring the go-ahead goal with just under 20 minutes remaining, securing a 3-2 victory.

Dalton teams will return to action on Monday, September 9th, kicking off a full week of games and matches.
