Robotics Teams Participate in FIRST Lego League Tournament
The Dalton 5th and 6th Grade Robotics teams participated in their FIRST Lego League (FLL) Tournament opener at the SAR Academy last weekend.
The Mechanical Jellyfish and the Misfit Mechanics, two of the twenty teams participating, presented their Innovative project ideas about inclusive playground design and food waste. They also sent their robots off to autonomously solve a series of thematic Lego missions. Working well together, solving technical problems, and keeping their heads about them when things were not going well, they ended the day with top robot performances, awards, and invitations to the next round of tournaments. It was an impressive performance by all, and the judges seemed to agree.
The Misfit Mechanics won the 2nd Overall Champions award, 3rd place in Robot Performance, and were awarded an elusive Golden Ticket to the NYC Championship on Sunday, March 15 at BMCC in Manhattan.
The Mechanical Jellyfish won 2nd place in Robot Performance and were awarded a Silver Ticket to the Semifinal Tournament on Saturday, February 29th at John Dewey HS in Brooklyn.
