Middle and High School Art Teacher Awarded a Grant to Create a Pop-Up Mini Library
MS and HS Art Teacher Carol Bowen was one of six artists awarded a grant from the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, My Brother’s Keeper New Rochelle and the New Rochelle Public Library to make a Pop-Up Mini Library. Each of the customized kiosks reflects the artist’s own vision. Carol chose to make the theme for her mini-library "Branch Out and Read." On each side, she created a mosaic inspired by Gustav Klimt's gorgeous mosaics of trees.
The libraries will be installed in parks around New Rochelle. New “Pop-Up Libraries” slated for New Rochelle’s parks made their debut this week at a reception at City Hall. The kiosks will be filled with donated books and installed at Feeney Park, Flowers Park, Hudson Park, Huguenot Park, Lincoln Park, and Ward Acres near the “Paws Place” dog park.
Carol's Pop-Up Mini Library will be installed in front of City Hall.
