The Community Life & Diversity committee (CL&D) and our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department wish to thank Dr. Heidi O’Gilvie and all of the participants in Monday's fascinating discussion on issues surrounding anti-racist pedagogy and practice at Dalton.
Our conversation both as a group and in smaller sessions was provocative and thoughtful. Dr. O’Gilvie, a professor of education and leading authority in literacy, instructional practices, and transformational leadership, challenged all attendees to think critically about ourselves, our communities, and our institutions.
The session was the second of four important dialogues around anti-racism. The final two sessions will occur in the first quarter of 2021. Please stay tuned for more information; all members of the Dalton community are welcome to attend. We hope you enjoy the recording of the event, and also Dr. O’Gilvie’s accompanying PowerPoint presentation.
The Community Life & Diversity Committee provides an opportunity for all parents at Dalton to discuss topics that impact the school community and promote a more equitable learning environment at Dalton. This committee organizes panel discussions, forums, and parent talks that value the variety of differences within the Dalton Community.
