High school community service coordinators Yom Fox and Doug Berns teamed up with First Program coordinators Alexandra Nakos, Julia Henderson, and Christine Nassar, along with the TODOS Club and the Community Service Club, to offer the first ever Dalton Community Co-Lab.
At Co-Lab, two high school students led First Program students in fun remote activities.
Yuna Yang '23 kicked things off by leading a hilarious round of MadLibs. First Programmers called out their selections as Yuna deftly considered the options, resulting in such verb choices as “joining a conga line” and “not joining a conga line.” The attendees clamored for more as they generated story after story that prominently featured the plural noun “bananas” (this word in its adjectival form would have aptly described the atmosphere in the Zoom).
Adeline Lopez '24 took us home with a memorable holiday sing-along. After getting our voices warmed up, Adeline led us through renditions of “This Land is Your Land,” “Ever Green, Ever Blue,” “In Summer” by Frozen’s Olaf, and “Jingle Bell Rock.” Our First Program singers relished the opportunity to take the spotlight and sing their hearts out. Finally, after a dance party to Billy Joel’s, “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” it was time to say goodnight!
With over 30 attendees at a given time, the Dalton Community Co-Lab was a hit! Our participants in both divisions brought energy and joy to the event.
