On June 17-21, 2013, Allegra Simon, Julia Rosenheim and Emily Madoff, all from the class of 2014, traveled to Singapore with chaperone Natalie Sanchez to participate in The Next Draft, GALES (Global Alliance of Leading Edge Schools) second Ideas to Change the World Summit organized by the Raffles Institute in Singapore.
The Summit focused on idea generation through dilemma-flipping (Dr. Bob Johansen, Leaders Make the Future), or the ability to look for opportunities in the face of apparent dilemmas. It urged students not to allow the fear of criticism or failure to prevent them from generating out-of-the-box solutions to some of the world’s most serious and urgent social and environmental problems. Students from twenty-five schools and twenty different countries worked alongside their peers from around the world and together engaged in workshops and heard from a range of inspiring speakers that encouraged them to be agents of change.
