Record-Setting Win: Dalton HS Robotics Win First Regional Qualifier and Top Awards

Dalton High School Robotics participated in the season's first qualifying event, which opened at the East Harlem Tutorial Program.
Three of Dalton’s six teams competed in the event, each with a different approach to this year’s challenge, which involved depositing bricks at various heights and robots completing multi-level pull-ups.

The teams did well in the qualifying rounds, with teams Uncertainty Principle and Quantum Mechanics earning spots in the top 10 with Uncertainty Principle (for the second year in a row) earning the 1st place spot. Both teams advanced to the playoffs, with Quantum Mechanics making it to the quarter-finals and Uncertainty Principle earning victories through all levels, including the tournament finals. Uncertainty Principle holds the top spot in New York City and has an undefeated win streak going into the rest of the season.

In addition to their efforts on the game field, Quantum Mechanics received an award in the judged category of the tournament with the Motivate Award for their outreach initiative in which they have worked on a New York State Senate Bill (S1576B) to provide grants for public and private schools to start or rebuild their own robotics programs. Atomic Theory received the top award with the Inspire Award, noting them as a strong all-around in terms of their robot’s design, team documentation, gameplay, and their team’s collective outreach efforts.
