In anticipation of Indigenous People's Day, Peruvian pop singer Naysha performed virtually for First Program students on Friday, October 8.
Naysha is a multi-instrumentalist who sings in Spanish and native Amazonian languages Quechua and Ansháninka.
In addition to hearing about Naysha and her heritage, students learned about the word indigenous and why we celebrate Indigenous People's Day. The conversation on Friday centered on the Lenape tribe, who first lived in the area now known as New York City.
