Visibility Exhibition: Lesbian and Gay Family Friends We Love and Respect
Recent events in the Sexual and Gender Identity series drew a large crowd to the Dalton cafeteria to view Dalton's first Visibility exhibit: Gay and Lesbian Family and Friends we Love and Respect.
Many then stayed for a thoughtful and wide-ranging discussion led by clinical psychologist Dr. Jennifer Bryan. Our subject -- the complexities inherent in discussions of gender and sexual diversity in any educational setting spanning many developmental stages, even in progressive schools such as Dalton in progressive cities such as New York. The emotional and intellectual impact of the exhibit set the tone for an evening of genuine and supportive conversation, of enlightening and lively debate. Many characterized the whole evening as a lovely example of community-building within our school.
