The Dalton Basketball teams began their seasons with strong performances, hosting Avenues, Grace Church, and Packer Collegiate in the Dalton Invitational.
The annual Alumni Thanksgiving Basketball Game on Saturday, November 30 featured dozens of alumni returning to Dalton's 87th Street Gym to participate in this special tradition. The event brought together graduates spanning decades, with participants ranging from the Class of ’92 to more recent classes.
Girls Varsity Soccer is set to face the 5-seed, Trinity, in the NYSAIS postseason quarterfinals, while Varsity Volleyball gears up to take on 2-seed Chapin.
The Dalton Cross Country team wrapped up its Ivy League season with a strong performance, with the boys’ squad taking third place—their best finish since 2006. Gabe Ponichter '26 finished 9th, becoming the seventh Dalton runner to break the 14-minute mark in the 2.5-mile race. Chris Schaaf '27 followed in 12th, with both runners earning all-league honors. Sam Shapiro '26 (18th), Rohan Shah '25 (23rd), and Graydon Barz '28 (34th) rounded out the top five for the Tigers.
The Dalton Girls Varsity Soccer team won their second consecutive Ivy League championship with a 3-0 victory over Horace Mann School. The win, along with favorable results in other league games, clinched the title for Dalton, marking back-to-back championships. The team wrapped up the regular season with a strong 8-3-4 record and now shifts focus to the NYSAIS tournament next week.
The Dalton Girls Varsity Volleyball team capped off a successful opening week of the Fall 2024 season by securing first place in the Gold Bracket at the season-opening Invitational Tournament, a first for the program.
The Girls Track and Field team clinched their third consecutive Ivy League championship with a dominant performance this week. The Tigers were led by standout athletes Nyla Blake-Soden '25, who won the 100 hurdles and triple jump, Dani Jefferson '24, who took the top spot in the 400 meters, and Tori Mogelof '26, who secured victory in the pole vault. The team now sets its sights on their third consecutive NYSAIS championship, with the meet set to take place on Wednesday, May 22, at Icahn Stadium at 1:30 PM.
With one final dominant win, Dalton Girls Basketball won the NYSAIS Championship on Saturday, February 25 and made history. Wrapping up a perfect season with an undefeated 26-0, Dalton overpowered league rival Fieldston with a commanding 69-37 victory at the Spence School Athletic Center.
The Athletics Center was overflowing Friday night as students donned their Dalton Blue for a "blue out" at this year's Warren Hines Night. Warren Hines Night is an annual event commemorating the legacy of the late Dalton student-athlete Warren Hines '88, who exemplified team spirit, commitment, and kindness. Funds raised at the event support the Warren Hinds scholarship fund.
