Athletic Trainers

The Dalton Athletic Training team works closely together to assure Dalton athletes are healthy and safe at all times.

In addition to providing care for student-athletes, the Athletic Training team works with coaches to assure they have the required certifications and knowledge to assist in caring for athletes.

What is Athletic Training?

Athletic training is a health care career that encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions.

  • must graduate from an accredited baccalaureate or master’s program, and 70% of ATs have a master’s degree.

  • are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide prevention and care to injured or ill individuals.

  • are licensed or otherwise regulated in 49 states and the District of Columbia.

  • are required by the State of New York to hold the Board of Certification credential of “Athletic Trainer Certified” (ATC).

  • can work in a wide variety of settings including:

    • Public and private secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional and Olympic sports
    • Hospitals and physician offices
    • Sports medicine and physical therapy/occupational therapy clinics
    • Police departments, fire departments, and the military
    • Performing arts including professional and collegiate level dance and music
