The fall athletics season was a memorable one for the Dalton Tigers, filled with exciting victories and impressive achievements throughout.
Dalton's Girls Soccer team kicked their season off with a 3-2 comeback victory over Poly Prep. The momentum continued with a thrilling 4-1 overtime win against Riverdale and a Homecoming victory against Trinity to follow. The team went on to earn an impressive 8-3-4 regular-season record, ultimately leading them to their second straight Ivy League Championship title. After earning the #4 seed in the NYSAIS postseason tournament, Girls Soccer powered through the opening rounds with a 3-0 win over Columbia Prep and a 1-0 victory over Trinity. Although their postseason journey ended in a hard-fought semifinal against top-seeded Brearley, this fall was undoubtedly a season to remember for Girls Soccer.
The Girls Volleyball team had an exceptional season that led with a 2-0 win over Columbia Prep. The win earned the team first place at the season-opening Invitational Tournament—a historic first for the program. Through impressive performances throughout the regular season, the Tigers claimed the #7 seed in the postseason tournament, where they faced #10 seed Horace Mann in the opening round. The Tigers earned a 3-1 victory, securing their spot in the quarterfinals to face off against #2 seed Chapin. Though they were ultimately defeated, the team’s fight and determination on the court were unparalleled until the very end, bringing a powerful close to a memorable season.
The Cross Country teams had impressive seasons right from the start. The Boys team finished second overall at the first Ivy Developmental Meet and placed 9th out of over 20 teams at the competitive Regis Invitational. The team wrapped up its Ivy League season on a high note, with the boys squad finishing third—marking one of their best seasons in 15 years.
The Boys Soccer team opened their season with a 4-0 win over Portledge, followed by a 2-2 draw against Poly Prep. Dalton struck first, however Poly took the lead early in the second half. Despite being down, Dalton's defense remained solid. With only moments left in the game, the Tigers tied it up and sent the game into overtime. This would not be the only time the Tigers fought their way into overtime, as their drive was a consistent force throughout their entire season. As a result, the team earned themselves a spot in the postseason tournament and was matched against #7 seed Grace Church in the tournament's opening round. Despite a 3-2 defeat, the Tigers showcased resilience from the beginning to the end of this fall season.
At the start of the Girls Varsity Tennis season, the team earned a pair of 3-2 victories over Columbia Prep and Nightingale-Bamford. As the season progressed, they faced a series of challenging matches, but their resilience paid off in the Ivy Tournament. The Tigers finished their fall season on a high, delivering a 5-0 victory over Fieldston and a thrilling 3-2 win against Poly to cap off the tournament.
Dalton Football faced some challenges early in the season with a series of hard-fought opening games. However, the team bounced back, clinching their first win of the season against Fieldston in a 14-13 victory. A solid 14-6 win over Horace Mann immediately followed. The Tigers earned a spot in the MIFL Bowl playoffs, and despite their season coming to a close after a loss to Rye Country Day, the Tigers left the fall season with plenty of significant milestones to celebrate.
